Advanced Placement US History
AP US History
The course covers US History from her colonial origins through modern times.
Thinking about historiography, or the study of how historians study history makes the class a unique experience. Various viewpoints are explored and students will learn how to identify point of view, purpose, and context of historical sources. In AP U.S. History, students investigate significant events, individuals, developments, and processes in nine historical periods from approximately 1491 to the present. Students develop and use the same skills and methods employed by historians: analyzing primary and secondary sources; developing historical arguments; making historical connections; and utilizing reasoning about comparison, causation, and continuity and change.
