Advanced Placement English Language and Composition
AP English Language and Composition
AP Language and Composition is a college-level course that focuses on the development of students' abilities to read critically, think analytically, and write with clarity and purpose. Through the study of a wide range of nonfiction texts-essays, speeches, journalism, and visual media-students will explore how authors use rhetoric to inform, persuade, and inspire audiences. The course emphasizes rhetorical analysis, argumentation, and synthesis of information from multiple sources including graphic images as forms of text, from many disciplines and historical periods. Students will engage in frequent writing assignments, both timed and process-based, to refine their voice, style and use of evidence.
